Geological earth‑rock masses serve as the bearing medium for major engineering projects, the host for mineral resources, and repositories for human waste disposal. Geological environments and major engineering projects are interrelated and mutually constrained. Global climate change, in particular, has rendered such interactions increasingly complex, giving rise to a number of emerging interdisciplinary subjects and research directions dedicated to ensuring major‑project safety and preserving eco‑geological environments. This symposium aims to build a communication platform for scientists, engineers and relevant professionals in these fields, so as to promote interdisciplinary integration among environmental science, geology and geotechnical engineering, and advance the sustainable development of geotechnical engineering and geological environments.
